Sugaring FAQs

What is Sugaring?

Sugaring was created by Ancient Egyptians and is still used today as a method of hair removal. Using all natural ingredients (sugar, lemon, and water), a paste is formed and that's what we use to remove your hair! Sugaring is a gentle, non-abrasive alternative to traditional body waxing, making it an easy switch. Unlike waxing, it leaves behind little-to-no skin irritation, broken hairs, ingrowns, and absolutely no burns!

Is it painful?

This will vary, person to person, depending on pain tolerance! However, since the Sugar Paste is only ever kept at a lukewarm temperature, and only adheres to your dead skin cells (never live skin cells), this cuts down the pain and uncomfortability from the skin irritation from waxing drastically! Which yes, that in fact does help alleviate some of the unnecessary pain we traditionally have felt in the past.

Will Sugaring cause ingrowns?

Short answer: No. Long answer: During the sugaring process, the  Sugar Paste is applied in the opposite direction of hair growth to fully encapsulate the hairs into the paste. The paste is then removed in the direction of hair growth, allowing every hair to be pulled from the root. By doing so, it doesn't break the hairs underneath the surface of the skin leading to ingrowns once those hairs try to grow back through the skin. This also makes Sugaring a longer lasting treatment as well!

How long does the results last?

4-6 weeks depending on your specific hair. Intimate Sugaring (Brazilians, Bikinis) are recommended every 4 weeks to ensure an easier and less painful experience every time. This also will thin out your hairs over time (within 3-4 4 week sessions) making less and less hair grow back each time!

How to prepare for your Sugaring appointment?

Avoid using any skin-thinning products such as retinol, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, acids, as well as tanning and direct sun exposure for at least 1 week prior to your appointment. It's recommended to come to your appointment with clean skin in the area being sugared to ensure the best adhesion of the sugar paste which ultimately affects the outcome of the results.

Ensure your hairs to be sugared are at least a 1/4 inch long (length of a grain of rice). Waiting until you have let your hair grow out (no trimming or shaving) for at least 2-3 weeks, will ensure your hair is the proper length.
